Richard E. Hess AV L-39
About Your Instructor:I’ve been an instructor or flight examiner since 1979. I’ve performed these duties in everything from T-37s, T-38s, C-141s, B-757s and B-767s. I’ve also been extremely active as a basic CFI and warbird instructor in Yak-52s, CJ-6s and L-39s. I’m an airline captain yet I still average nearly 400 hours per year in GA aircraft and warbirds. It’s obvious that flying is my first and last love. I receive such pleasure watching someone learn to fly a warbird well, with focused precision, the way these aircraft were intended to be flown. I’ve been blessed
with learning to fly in the U.S. military. With my background, I feel
an obligation to do my best to impart that sense of purpose and
professionalism that so characterizes a military pilot.
